Surprise Attack - Sheri White
Men, women, and children awoke to death throughout town for the first time in decades. Those out past curfew the night before were now dead, body parts and viscera strewn throughout the neighborhood yards and hanging from tree branches like garland on a Christmas tree. For so long, the families of Landover had lived with a false sense of security.
They would have to clean up and bury their dead before the next attack. It could happen that night.
For now they gathered, dreading the words they knew their mayor would speak:
“Our luck’s run out. The unicorns have returned.”
Sheri White’s stories have been published in many anthologies and zines, including an essay in the Notable Works for the HWA Mental Health Initiative, an essay in JAKE Magazine, Halldark Holidays (edited by Gabino Iglesias), and The Horror Writers Association’s Don’t Turn Out the Lights (edited by Jonathan Maberry). Recent publications include Crab Apple Literary, Litmora, voidspace zine, and Broken Antler Magazine. She, too, is ridiculously, completely, obsessed with The Beatles.
