remembrance

Karen Baumgart

you say rosemary

is for remembrance,

so I gather

flickering fragments

into fragrant bundles,

neatly trussed like

tiny shocks of wheat.

they stand crookedly,

desperately courageous

and already unravelling

with the soft breeze of

moments passing.

Karen Baumgart lives in Australia and enjoys reading, running and baking. She loves working as a policy officer in government, especially when it creates opportunities for marginalised people to have a voice. Karen used to be an English teacher, and still believes writing is the best therapy.
